Start slowly, with a red candle. Wicks n’ More’s heart-shaped long-burner is a great beginning and can go anywhere in the house. Graduate to the next level of color bravery with an accent pillow, like Jonathan Adler’s apple pillow or a fantastic red glass vase.

Accessorize the kitchen with red. The Roost’s red iron trivet adds that knockout color and an essence of France. Then move to the dining room for a sweetheart dinner using bright red chargers topped with playful red-and-white polka dot plates.

Now it’s time to close the door, being, of course, a limited edition red Heart Door by Jeld-Wen, dim the light (make that a red lamp, like the Carmen30 by YLighting) and cuddle on a Bocca loveseat by Heller.

And raise a flute of Veuve Clicquot in a toast to red.
